Christine Waygood

After gaining a BA honours degree in constructed textile design from Birmingham College of Art , she continued her post graduate studies at The Scottish College of Textiles, then worked as a weave designer in the Scottish borders, before starting her own knitwear business in 1978.

She taught at Goldsmiths, Loughborough and Liverpool John Moores Universities before opening her workshop , 'The Soft Centre' in Glossop in the High Peak of Derbyshire, where she combined studio practice with community arts projects, and both public and private commissions.

Christine relocated to the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire in 2010, and opened her workshop at Taurus Crafts near Lydney. While she was there, her work shifted more towards felt making.

She now has a studio on Blakeney Hill, where she continues to work in many different ways, making items as diverse as soft furnishings, garments, accessories and toys as well as passing on her expertise to others through workshops and courses.
