Inspirational Flat and Nuno Felts
70.00

Pictures, Covers, Scarves, and Cushions.

I run this one day regularly, covering most of the basic techniques used in wet felting. It’s a good starting point for anyone wanting to learn the basics, or just have a really good day out!  At the end of the day, you will come away with a finished piece of felt, and the confidence to carry on to make lots more!

In the morning we’ll make samples of ways to develop patterns, experiment with mixing colours and making and using pre-felts, using  layering to form pockets and flaps, or incorporating fabric to make fine nuno fabrics. These are felts which incorporate fine silks or other fabrics to create wonderfully lightweight, strong warm fabrics suitable for scarves, clothing, or lampshades.  They can be sheer, or wonderfully textured, with contrasts between the wool which shrinks, and the fabric which does not.

After lunch you’ll be shown how to translate your ideas from an image or source of your own choice into a design to make a piece of felt for either a picture, scarf, cushion , book, or ipad cover.

What's included in the price?

All materials and home baked snacks and lunch including soup or salads made from our home grown organic vegetables (in season).

“My daughter and I had never done any felting before so didn't know what to expect. Christine was welcoming and everything was very relaxed and, as there were only three of us that day, it felt very personal. She demonstrated each step clearly and encouraged us to really play with colours and patterns rather than stick to a formula - it was great fun and lovely to be able to come away with something you could actually wear!! Delighted with what we achieved. A very enjoyable and creative day spent in a lovely part of the countryside.”

Ewa Guscott

“Felting courses with Christine Waygood are such great fun. Not only is Chris a fount of knowledge when it comes to every aspect of felt-making but there are simply no limits to her creativity. I always come away feeling really inspired, buzzing with new ideas and looking forward to my next visit.”
